What exactly Crossfit is?

Invented by former gymnast Greg Glassman, CrossFit has its origins in Santa Cruz, California, on the west coast of the United States. Glassman then created website, and began posting training programs there.

Soon, emails started coming in from people in the US, Canada and Europe with suggestions and good reviews about the program. Shortly , he began teaching CrossFit and issuing certificates.

After Glassman began issuing certificates to trainees, branches began to open throughout the city, and soon around the world. Furthermore, after some time, the CrossFit brand was patented, and in 2000 the eponymous company was opened. Having patented his brainchild, he obliged all owners of sports clubs where his method is practiced to pay him a percentage of income. In 2012, profits of his company amounted to $ 50 million, in 2013 it amounted to more than $ 100 million. Today, about 4,000 CrossFit branches operate on 6 continents. Tournaments are held and betting is growing in popularity.

In some countries (for example, in Canada), this sport is officially included in the training program for special forces of the armed forces, fire brigades. There is even a programme for kids designed specifically for children.
